More
information on
the Year of the Cottontail
2009
is the Year of the Cottontail!
Preserving
habitat for the large diversity of plants and animals that call
this southernmost tip of Maine home is one of the important objectives
of our conservation work.
This
year we continue our annual focus on one particular animal or plant
that benefits from our work, and we have chosen to celebrate the
New England Cottontail.

Past
Events
April
18 - A Photo Luminescent Spring Evening (6-8p.m.)

Vernal
Pool expert Frank Dehler lead a group of 20 York Land Trust
guests on a wonderful evening walk to visit several vernal
pools at Mt. Agamenticus. Guests were treated to a talk matching
vernal pool indicator species with their preferred habitat
type. At times, the spring peeper chorus was loud enough to
deafen us to our guide's remarks. By nightfall the group was
treated to a sighting of a spotted salamander swimming among
the leaf litter at the bottom of a vernal pool strewn with
salamander egg masses.
A
great time was had by all. Join York Land Trust in thanking
Frank Dehler for leading our walk.
