| Fly Fishing and Stream Ecology
May 10th, 9am-noon
Join us for a morning fly fishing lesson along the Josias River in Cape Neddick in the heart of YLT’s Salfeety property. We’ll learn about the stream’s ecology and invertebrate population and choose appropriate flies to successfully fish this stream. Bring fishing gear. Call to register.
Snowshoe Rock
June 14th, 9am-noon
Local historian and author, Emerson (Tad) Baker will lead us on a half-mile walk to Snowshoe Rock, one of YLT’s conserved properties. Hear more about this fascinating landmark which was the focal point of one of York’s notable early historical events.
Summer Owl Trek: Kayaking the York River at Dusk
July 26th, 5-8:30pm
Join Maine Audubon Biologist Susan Gallo for a river-side exploration of owls on YLT properties during this dusk kayak outing. We’ll call for owls along the way as we float by properties where there is a history of owl presence. Bring head lamps, kayaks and equipment.

Special Thanks!!
Thanks to Frank Dehler, Kristen Lamb and Laura Dehler for leading our Mt. A in April walk and talk featuring the resident owls of the Center for Wildlife, and an exploration of the area's vernal pools. The outing was so popular, that Frank led a second vernal pool trip. Thanks also to Amy Phalon of Seacoast Newspapers who covered the owl portion of our outing and published a great article in the York Weekly.
We had a memorable late night/early morning trip to call for owls during out Spring Owl Trek in April, even though we heard no owls! Special thanks to Gina Carbone of Seacoast Newspapers who joined us for the whole trip and wrote a wonderful article in the Portsmouth Herald.

Adopt
a Property Program
York
Land Trust Volunteer Land Stewards have stepped forward to
take on land monitoring responsibilities for a number of properties.
The adopt a property program gives volunteers the freedom
to access the properties on their own schedule. For the first
year we will be creating a seasonal journal that will be posted
on this web site.
More
properties are available for adoption. Contact Don Leuchs
at 363-7400 or via email at pparrott@gwi.net if you would
like more information about volunteering. |
