This winter, you can enjoy the wonderfully groomed cross-country ski trails at Highland Farm Preserve thanks to the hard work of the Agamenticus Ski Club. For several years, weather conditions permitting, York Land Trust and the Agamenticus Ski Club have partnered to offer community ski trails at the preserve. Agamenticus Ski Club volunteers have groomed a large loop trail from the parking lot trailhead, including a nice downhill stretch where you can pick up some speed. Bring your own equipment and enjoy the endless laps in the winter sunshine!
As always, hikers, snowshoers, and on-leash dogs are welcome at Highland Farm Preserve. If you aren’t on skis, please stick to the walkers-only trails whenever possible. Barring that option, please carefully navigate along the sides of the ski trails away from the tracks; let’s work together to preserve the Ski Club’s efforts for the remainder of the snowy season.
Agamenticus Ski Club is a nonprofit organization that has provided educational cross-country ski programs to children and teens in grades 1-12 in the greater York Region since 2011. Their mission is to develop, inspire, and support children through educational outdoor sports programs that promote life-long health, fitness and local community connection to the natural environment. They “re-connect” children to the local outdoor environment through their Nordic ski programs which run after school from November through March annually. They welcome members, volunteers, and donations.
