York Land Trust Hosts Center for Active Living’s Adult Winter Camp

February 17, 2026

York Land Trust happily hosted the Center for Active Living‘s Adult Winter Camp in the office’s Community Room from February 9th through 11th this year. A group of seniors arrived each morning ready for crafts, games, and winter-themed outdoor activities, and then departed after a nostalgic childhood-themed lunch.

Camp highlights included a winter hiking presentation by Joe Beauchemin, an ice fishing demonstration and excursion to the pond with Mike Popohek, and snowshoeing through Near Point Preserve with Naomi Densmore from The Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region. The group also enjoyed snow ‘ice cream’ with hot fudge sauce, made maple snow candies, bedazzled coasters, and decorated garden rocks and birdhouses. It was many of the seniors’ first visit to York Land Trust’s office and Near Point Preserve.

York Land Trust offers seven public access preserves for hiking, cross-country skiing, nature study, and more. Additionally, York Land Trust’s Community Room is available year-round for private rentals, work retreats, and group gatherings like this one. Both half- and full-day rentals are available for groups of various sizes. For more information or to fill out an inquiry form, please visit this page.
