Naturalist Adventure Series: Discover Diverse Habitats at Highland Farm

Join Maine Master Naturalist Paul Dest as part of our Naturalist Adventure Series. Paul will lead a guided hike of our Highland Farm Preserve to discover the diverse range of habitats that span this special landscape. From grasslands and wet meadows to shrublands and rocky ledges to mature and young forests, this preserve showcases many ecosystems and how they are interconnected. Come learn about the flora and fauna you’d find in these habitats and what makes them so special.

Get to know your Naturalist: Paul Dest is the Executive Director of the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve and has been active in land conservation for over 30 years. He is one of the founders of the Mount Agamenticus to the Sea Conservation Initiative and the York River Wild and Scenic initiative, and has served on the boards and commissions of several local, state and national conservation organizations. Paul leads occasional walks on protected places in southern Maine. He is a 2022 graduate of the Maine Master Naturalist Program.
