The Joy of Coastal Spring in Maine: Guided Forest Bathing

Awaken your senses and embrace the renewal of spring with a guided Forest Bathing experience at York Land Trust’s Lafcadio’s Woods Preserve. As the landscape comes to life with fern buds, birdsong, and the scent of fresh earth, we’ll slow down and connect with nature through gentle, mindful practices. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku, this immersive gentle walk over 1/2-1 mile invites you to breathe deeply, notice the small wonders of the season, and find a sense of calm and connection. No experience necessary—just a willingness to unwind and enjoy the beauty of spring.

Forest Bathing is an outdoor guided mindfulness group practice with proven health benefits. The session offers a slow guided walk through natural forest settings, several 10-15 minute guided sensory invitations done individually, and then a final tea gathering at the end. Every part of the session is done in a quiet forest setting. The many health benefits include slowing your pulse, lowering blood pressure, improving natural immune system, lowering stress, and increasing creativity…to name a few.
